This afternoon, Darien officers along with the Darien Fire Department responded to Five Mile River Road on a report of dog in distress in the icy waters of the Five Mile River. The dog had made its way to a small patch of grass but became stranded as the tide came in.

The Darien Fire Department quickly donned cold water gear and using a nearby dinghy, were able to reach the dog and return to shore where it was reunited with its owner, uninjured.
